4th National HR Conclave Organized by KIIT School of Management, KIIT University in association with NHRDN

KIIT School of Management (KSOM)  organised its 4th National HR Conclave in association with National HRD Network on 10th August 2013. The theme of this year’s conclave was “Power of choice – Transforming the Talent Landscape”. The conclave was inaugurated by Mr. Rajeev Dubey, National President, National HRD Network (NHRDN) and Group HR & Executive Board Member, Mahindra & Mahindra along with Prof. P. P. Mathur, Vice Chancellor, KIIT University; Prof. Ashok K. Sar, Dean, KIIT School of Management (KSOM); Mr. Kamal Singh, Director General, NHRDN. Dr. Saroj Mahapatra, President NHRDN Bhubaneswar Chapter and Dr. Suvendu Das, Vice President, NHRDN-Bhubaneswar Chapter.

Keeping in mind the contemporary and captivating theme of the Conclave, Prof. Ashok K. Sar in his welcome address said that the HR Symposium was a step forward to strengthen the platform for disseminating knowledge. He also briefed about the entire schedule of the conclave along with providing a basic outline of the 10 student workshops.

4th-Hr-Conclave-Power-of-Choice-sarojiDelivering the first key note address, Dr. Saroj Mahapatra, President NHRDN Bhubaneswar Chapter, appreciated KIIT University and stressed that the HR Conclave in association with NHRDN and KSOM was an example of a perfect symbiosis between industry and academia. He also emphasized upon the importance of talent spotting, talent development and talent mapping in the managerial arena.

 

 

 

 

Prof. P.P Mathur, VC, KIIT University lucidly expressed the need for self-efficacy in the youth to exercise the power of choice. Mr. Kamal Singh, Director General NHRDN while lauding the efforts of KIIT University in organizing a conclave with varied perspectives and dimensions, also showcased the initiatives of the NHRDN in developing skill and talent in the youth of today.

file-Hr-Conclave-Power-of-Choice3Mr. Rajeev Dubey, the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker delivered a motivating speech on the need and importance of a dream and vision supported by the will to transform it into reality. He mentioned that “innovation” remained the key to success in organizations. He concluded that leaders of today needed to embrace competence and authenticity in order to inculcate the culture of innovative change in an organization.

 

 

 

The Panel Discussion that followed the inaugural ceremony was facilitated by Mr. Bhabani Mohanty, Think Talent India Ltd. The panellists were industry stalwarts such as Mr. Sandip Mishra, Head HR, Novartis; Mr. Arun Rao, VP, Talent, Deloitte Consulting India Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Manoj Varghese, Director, Facebook. Setting the context of the theme of the conclave from a beautiful poem by renowned poet Shri Rabindra Nath Tagore, the panellists engaged in an interesting discussion and debate on the meaning and essence of the power of choice. The panellists through this discussion and debate brought out differing perspectives from their own organizations with a single overpowering commonality i.e. power of choice has been universally accepted and adapted to by the industry. Individualism has become a magnified concept through the all-pervasive power of technology with implications both for the corporates as well as employees.

4th-Hr-Conclave-Power-of-Choice-bhabaniIn the post lunch, three interactive corporate sessions were held on the themes of Power of Choice in Talent Acquisition, Power of Choice in Talent Development and Power of Choice in Talent Engagement. Each session presented two interesting perspectives on these themes i.e. the practitioners’ and the consultants’. In the first session Mr. Arun Rao, VP Talent, Deloitte presented the practitioners view while the consultant’s view was shared by Mr. Amal Das Consultant, Good People Consulting. In the second session the practitioners’ views were provided by Mr. Sandip Mishra, Head HR, Novarits and Mr. Ashutosh Sinha, VP Talent, Deloitte while the consultant’s view was provided by Mr. Bimal Rath, Founder, Think Talent Services. In the third session Mr. Manoj Varghese, Director, Facebook and Mr. Ravi Shankar, Head COE-HR Services, Infosys presented the practitioners’ view while the consultant’s view was provided by Mr. Rahul Dev, ED, Laureate LLC.

Ltd, Staffing Strategy by Mr. Praveen Pantula, Wells Fargo, Employer Branding by Mr. Suraj Chaudhury, Woodruff Advisory Services, Shaping a Career by Mr. Vivek Tiwari, Think Talent, Understanding Competencies by Mr. Sobby Pothen Kurian, Think Talent, Ways of Evaluating Hi-Po Talent by Ms. Anamika, Management Consultant, Developing Upcoming Leaders by Mr. Anuraag Rai, Spark Minda Group, Retention Management by Dr. Ratikanta Dash, GM HR, L&T Kansbahal, Employee Engagement Models by Mr. Neil Shastri, AON Hewitt and Change Management by Mr. Sanjay Chaturvedi, Think Talent.

 

The Valedictory Session was addressed by Cmde. Dilip Mohapatra, Chief Mentor & Strategic Advisor, KSOM who vary crisply talked about power of choice available to each of us. The day long activities were summarized by Prof. Jitendra Mohanty, KSOM and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Suvendu Das, Vice President, NHRDN – Bhubaneswar Chapter.

The conclave was a grand success and saw active participation form the Industry, Academia and the Student community.
