This 3-day intensive program focused on enhancing strategic thinking, execution capability, cross-functional co-ordination and people leadership in complex infrastructure project environments. The sessions included a wide range of topics with the purpose of enhancing technical competence, emotional intelligence, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. In specific, the sessions included inside-out journey, managing difficult stakeholders, managing challenges in a digital world, transactional analysis, leading differently, data driven decision making, managing time effectively, employee wellness, behavioural biases in decision making and POSH. The 3 day program ended very aptly with the participants being taken on a tour of KISS (Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences) – which is an attempt of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the founder of KIIT and KISS to empower tribal communities and house 80,000 students in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since the year 2015.

Prof. Kumar Mohanty, Director Corporate Relations bagged the valuable MDP based on his excellent networking with the industry. Prof. Ashok K. Sar designed the MDP and coordinated delivery of the program.

Prof. Sushant Tripathy covered Transport Optimization & Warehouse Management with illustrations based on published best practices and hands-on exercises on optimisation using real-time data. Prof. Deepak Singhal illustrated the commodity forecast using the ARIMA time-series model. Prof. Saroj Routray illustrated Target & Benchmark Costing and Activity-Based Costing through case studies and created an opportunity for the participants to apply the learnt concepts. Prof. Ashok K. Sar presented a global overview of the supply chain management based on knowledge base from the World Economic Forum and presented a model to identify problems, elaborate problems, conceptualize the problem, collect data and interpret data to come up with solutions.

The feedback from participants on course content; relevance of the MDP to practice; meeting learning objectives; duration of sessions; training methods; overall presentation; course materials; and facilities are rated to be excellent.

A follow-up project has been created to analyse a set of problems using the learnt concepts, create solutions, evaluate the possible solutions and chose the optimum solution for execution.

The program was designed by Prof. Ashok K. Sar duly supported by the training team from the School of Management. The program design considered the jobs’ demands and the required competencies based on a thorough discussion with the DG-HR and his team. The learning outcomes from the program were, demonstrating self-awareness and self-management; time management and working smarter; emotional intelligence; effective stress management; assertive communication; and healthy life style.

Fifty-eight participants from various administrative entities attended the program. The resource persons with relevant expertise were drawn from various functions from the School of Management and School of Medicine. Prof. Ashok K. Sar, took the participants through a series of activities to develop purpose, identity and strategy within the limits of available time. Prof. Isa Mishra, through an activity based learning session, illustrated self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. Prof. Sumita Misha, introduced “Transactional Analysis” and guided participants to develop ego-state profile and understand the behavior of other person so that communication becomes effective. Prof. Saptorshi Das, helped participants to gain rich insights into assertive communication. Prof. Joy Prakash, in his session on stress management, help participants to understand the possible source of stress and how to cope with the same. Prof. Joydeep Biswas, took the participants through a series of activities to understand interdependencies and manage the same in team settings.

The feedback from the participants reflect excellent content, great relevance, fully meeting learning objectives, highly effective learning methods and excellent overall presentation.

Session 1: Understanding Self: Creating Self alignment and Inner Potential

The first session was on understanding self and facilitated by  Prof Shradha Padhi. It covered how one’s  belief and values impact one’s thought process manifesting in emotions and action. The session also explained the analogy between various colors and the associated characteristics. The session also drew out the importance of donning different characteristics pertaining to different colors, depending upon different situations, so as to bring out a soothing rainbow effect in one’s life.

 

Session 2: Conflict Management in Turbulent Times

Prof Joydeep Biswas discussed the Change Management framework and Conflict Resolution styles.

Session 3: :  Innovation and Creativity

 

Prof. Surya Mishra discussed basics of Creativity and Innovation and his session dealt with Business Transformation and Design Thinking. The sessions also involved hands-on creativity and innovative exercises.

Session 4: Emotional intelligence 

Prof Isha Mishra talked about factors that influence emotional intelligence and the guide to manage them efficiently to get the desired result.
