As we bring down the curtain on another academic year, I am filled with pride and gratitude. Pride in the incredible achievements of our students, faculty, and staff, and gratitude for the opportunity to be part of this vibrant college community. This year has been a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and teamwork. From academic excellence to extracurricular achievements, our students have made us proud at every turn. As we celebrate our successes, we also acknowledge the challenges we’ve faced. But it is in these moments of adversity that we discover our greatest strengths and our most profound growth. To our final year students, I offer my warmest wishes for the greatest placement opportunities ahead. When you leave with college with your desired offer letters, dwell on the lessons you’ve learned, the friendships you’ve forged, and the memories you’ve created, that will stay with you forever. As we approach the end of another calendar year and prepare to welcome the season of celebrations and signature events at KIIT, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the academic vibrancy and achievements of the past months at KSOM. Another proud moment was the successful continuation of Konfidant – our flagship corporate mentoring program, which connected students with top industry professionals. This initiative highlights our strong industry interface and commitment to bridging the gap between academia and corporate life. In alignment with our belief that learning extends beyond classroom walls, BBA students had the enriching opportunity to visit Kalarabanka Smart Village, a model of community transformation envisioned by our Hon’ble Founder, Prof. Achyuta Samanta. This initiative provided valuable insights into grassroots development and the power of social change, reinforcing our commitment to experiential learning. Our continued efforts to uphold our legacy and elevate KSOM to the next level are a shared commitment among faculty and students alike. I encourage you to actively engage in our vibrant academic and co-curricular ecosystem. At KSOM, you won’t just learn; you will experience growth that shapes your future. To the other students, I wish you a happy holiday ahead and wait to welcome you back with open arms in the next semester. May the coming year bring new opportunities, new challenges, and new triumphs. And to our entire college family, I extend my deepest gratitude. Thank you for making our college a place of learning, laughter, and love. Here’s to an unforgettable year, and to many more to come!

And by knowing our guts, our inner fire, we can learn how to add more light and energy to drive us towards a better life, not just for us, but also for those around us, and the world at large. KSOM was awarded the “Best Business School of Odisha” 2023 by TIMES Business Awards for its contribution and continuing legacy in imparting relevant management education. The award was a testimony to the credibility of the school in creating its own niche in management education over a period spanning more than two decades. KSOM also undertook novel initiatives to engage with alumni during this time-period through guest lectures and live projects. Keeping in mind the need for regular update in syllabus for both the undergraduate and post graduate programmes, a National Level Workshop for Curriculum Development was held in December under the guidance of Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tapan Panda. The experts in the workshop ranged from senior members of the corporate and academia.

The bi-monthly period also witnessed faculty and student achievements in curricular and co-curricular domain. Conference presentations, footprints in publications, conduct of scientific workshops were among the notable faculty achievements during this time. Similarly, students also left their footprints in debates, internship contests and cultural activities in and beyond the state. The autumn semester ended with its promise of yet another new and fruitful year in 2024. Continued efforts to live up to our legacy and take KSOM into the next level is a commitment from faculty and students alike. The new year will also begin with exciting events in the mega student fest and the annual International Conference for Management Research.

A warm welcome was planned and executed for the eager, enthusiastic students of BBA first year (Batch 23-26) to help them acclimatize to a new environ.The inaugural ceremony themed “Khrysalis” was graced by Hon’ble Founder, KIIT and KISS, Prof. Achyuta Samanta whose words always inspired students to achieve their optimum. KSOM also welcomed its doctoral scholars in October 2023 through an informal welcome ceremony. The admitted scholars brought the right mix of diversity from academia and corporate. Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT School of Management and KIIT School of Rural Management, Prof. Tapan Panda welcomed the scholars.

Mentoring students in all aspects of academic life formed the bedrock of academic excellence at KIITDU. To augment mentoring activities, KSOM hosted the 7th edition of its corporate mentoring programme- ‘Konfidant’ where a corporate mentor was assigned a group of students from MBA-1 and worked in-depth with each one of them to design individual development plans. These plans served to inculcate a fervour in students to polish their skills for the upcoming internship processes in campus. Konfidant also helped to build relationships between students and their mentors over a period of two years. Konfidant 2023 hosted 33 corporate mentors from varied industries and companies.

Significant faculty and student achievements were a highlight during this period. KSOM has had holistic approach to research. Research workshop, research discussions and publications by faculty in our inhouse journal and other journals of repute helped promote a research culture in the school. As we near the completion of the autumn semester, we strive to keep abreast with our corporate and academic peers by relevant industry ready courses and updated pedagogy. As KSOM prepares for mega cultural fests in the upcoming months, we aim to provide a holistic experience to each student above and beyond the classroom.

A warm welcome was planned and executed for the eager, enthusiastic students of MBA first year (Batch 23-25) to help them acclimatize to a new environ. As a part of this orientation an outbound event titled “Konfluence” was held in July for all the students of MBA first year at Sterling Resorts, Puri. The design of Konfluence was unorthodox attempting to blend learning, teamwork, and personal introspection in a single window. With the arrival of MBA second year students a renewed focus was attempted through faculty mentors to prepare them for the upcoming placement cycle. Similarly, KSOM also welcomed back BBA second- and third-year students from their summer break. The student clubs of KSOM were active in inducting new members and conducting activities. These clubs were not only domain based but also addressed social issues.

The 14th edition of the HR Konclave and the 4th edition of the Business Analytics Konclave were held during this time. Both events were planned on a grand scale and were preceded by student competitions with participants from premier institutions all over the country. Konclaves provided the much-needed gateway between the university and the academia where practitioner experts from varied organizations interacted with us through lively panel discussions and immersive student workshops. The month of August also witnessed the grandest event of all in the University i.e., the annual convocation. In our quest to build a legacy of students contributing substantially to the organizations that they serve post the completion of their academic journey, a robust alumni connect is considered imperative. Kongregate, the alumni club of KSOM hosted a meet and greet with the alumni on the 18th of August 2023. Selected alumni were called back to the campus to interact with students during the Konfluence and the Konclaves. Significant faculty and student achievements are a highlight during this period. KSOM has had holistic approach to research. Research workshop, research discussions and publications by faculty in our inhouse journal and other journals of repute helped promote a research culture in the school. As we persevere in this academic year, we shall strive to provide every opportunity to our students to help them secure positions within organizations to contribute meaningfully. Furthermore, we will also attempt to forge partnerships with our academic and corporate counterparts to impart relevant education for all our stakeholders.
