Message

Management Education is essentially different from the traditional education that is imparted in general degree colleges or even in specialized disciplines, like engineering and medicine. The high diversity and fluidity of knowledge, skills and experience in the real business world poses greater challenge to the B-Schools in designing, delivering and sustaining their programs in a dynamic and rapidly changing scenario. It, therefore, becomes highly necessary for the institutes to create permeable interfaces for constant osmosis of knowledge and information with the industry and shape its offerings in tandem with the contemporary management practices, problems and issues.

Secondly, B-Schools are more than classrooms where knowledge exchange takes place between the faculty and students through the traditional ‘chalk and talk’ methods, but which act as crucibles for meeting minds and as incubators of innovative ideas, where personalities are developed, characters are shaped. An industry-ready product may be an automatic outcome but more than that the school aims for transforming the raw material (student) into a responsible and capable global citizen, who would lend his shoulder to carry the world into the next generation.

We are aware that the success criteria revolve around basically three R’s: Reputation, Resource and Research. Reputation is perhaps the most important strategic asset of the B-School that is earned over time through continuously accumulated brand value and which is reflected on the school’s ability to attract faculty, students, recruiters, executive education clients, clients for management consulting, research collaborators, beneficiaries and a variety of stakeholders, including alumni. The Resource component includes the faculty (both quality and number), infrastructure, support staff, career services, alumni relations, etc. The Research is characterized by quality, relevance, contemporariness, and its overall contribution to new knowledge creation in the management and leadership domain.

The main track is anchored on creation of the best learning environment to initiate and sustain the journey towards excellence through exploration, experimentation and experience sharing. The other tracks that creates a seamless connect with the industry is through executive education programs and management consultancy to resolve live issues for the business. Complemented with doctoral programs and funded research programs, the school is geared up for both knowledge creation and knowledge proliferation in the space of business education.

Last but not the least: mentioning about the use of enabling technology like knowledge portals and intranets like this site which provides an effective platform for knowledge and information sharing and dissemination. Not only it serves as an interface amongst multiple users internally and externally but also it mirrors the institute’s culture and character. As a learning and engagement platform its potential is limitless. Recent times have seen its makeover to emerge as a user-friendly and interactive medium for information and knowledge exchange and in times to come it has scope for hosting multiple online activities like performance appraisal, various opinion surveys, on-line discussion forums for focused groups, SME helpdesks, on-line mentoring, social networking for learning, industry-academia interfacing and the like.

KSOM is all above and more. While on an evolutionary path towards becoming one of the best-in-class B-Schools in the modern world, we are confident that we will continue incessantly in our efforts to serve the humanity through our humble efforts in shaping the future of the business world by contributing to the realm of management education and by creating a formidable community of global citizens of tomorrow.
