KSOM organizes its 13th National Finance Conclave on the theme: “Financial Ecosystem and Sustainability: Emerging Trends”

KIIT School of Management (KSOM) organized its 13th National Finance Conclave on 12th Nov’ 2022. The essence of the theme was to provide insights into the relevance and contribution of financial sustainability in the corporate world.

Dr. Saroj Mahapatra, Director, KSOM & Conclave Chair gave the Welcome Address. He extended his welcome and greetings on behalf of Dr. Achutya Samanta, Hon’ble Founder, KIIT & KISS, to everyone present in the event. He introduced the corporate dignitaries and set the context for the day. Dr. Mahapatra threw light on the important aspects every business would need to survive: peace, society’s requirement for market equilibrium, emphasis on the environment and climate change.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, KIIT DU, Dr. Sasmita Samanta addressed the gathering and gave an insightful speech on the theme. She discussed how the main agenda of the corporates has been shifting from general profit gain to overall gain for the society. She also pointed out how KIIT always walked the talk with respect to financial sustainability.

The inaugural session was followed by two panel discussions. The first panel discussion was on the topic: Financial Sector Outlook – Navigating the Sustainable Landscape. The panel highlighted the fact that ESG is quite an important and critical subject for the world’s business. The construction business should be the first to address this issue with efficient use of water and zero discharge into the environment. The panel concurred that investors are getting smarter and looking more towards earning ethical profit related positively to environmental goals.

The second panel discussion was on the topic – Sustainable Development: Prospects and Challenges. The panel discussed about the relevance of the topic for MBA graduates. They talked about the pros and cons of green energy and the issues in finding qualified professionals despite rise in population. The panel ended their discussion by advising students to focus more on knowledge than running after money. Sustainable business goals can only be achieved with the help of knowledgeable and aware individuals.
The panel discussions concluded with a Vote of Thanks and felicitation of the guests by Prof. Sumita Mishra, Dean, KSOM. Prof. K K Ray was the conclave convenor.

The second half of the conclave consisted of eleven interactive workshops on topics related to: ESG and the Investment Environment, Indian Start-Ups: Opportunities & Challenges, Stock Market performance and Economic Reality, Indian Capital Market and Retail Investor Sentiment, Mutual Fund Industry, India’s Growth Story in the era of sustainability and Indian Banking & Finance Sectors.

The Finance conclave provided students with an opportunity to interact with business leaders from the industry. The conclave created a platform to connect industry professionals, academia and students.
