In order to understand what leaders do, it is important to understand the difference between management and leadership. They are two distinct and complementary systems of action. Management involves coping with complexity; leadership, coping with change. Managing requires bringing order and predictability to a situation, while leading requires adapting to changing circumstances—an increasingly important skill in today’s volatile and competitive business environment. In many contexts, the work of management is significantly different from the work of leadership. Thus, key objectives of this programme is to distinguish leading from managing and help participants to appreciate the differences thereof and learn to face the leadership challenges with confidence through associated development.
The program shall utilize a rich and healthy mix of interactive lecture sessions, research instrument based feedback, experiential exercises, and Learn-by-doing techniques to help the participants further sharpen relevant skills. The participants shall be encouraged to express themselves and further increase their personal and interpersonal effectiveness in a group setting. The overall learning will therefore depend on active participation from participants, especially in sharing of experiences and learning every day.
