Business intelligence and analytics area is one of the fastest growing markets in the software landscape. Organizations are generating large amounts of data in real-time, and subsequently looking for professionals who can understand, visualize, and assess these. Deriving insights from the data drives the organizations and help them chalk the path ahead with efficient strategies and financial performances. The process of business analytics involves use of tools and methods to obtain meaning from data. Organizations use business analytics in order to

• Analyze data from multiple sources
• Use advanced analytics and statistics to find hidden patterns in large datasets
• Disseminate information to relevant stakeholders through interactive dashboards and reports
• Monitor KPIs and react to changing trends in real-time
• Justify and revise decisions based on up-to-date information

There are three primary methods of business analysis:
• Descriptive: The interpretation of historical data to identify trends and patterns
• Predictive: The use of statistics to forecast future outcomes
• Prescriptive: The application of testing and other techniques to determine which outcome will yield the best result in a given scenario

The 2nd National Business Analytics Konclave at KIIT Deemed to be University shall provide a forum to discuss the present and future of business analytics; understand the needs of data-driven organizations and scope for data-minded individuals, and debate on burning questions in an increasingly data-dependent enterprise scenario. The Konclave will host panel discussions and an array of workshops on various topics related to the theme.

There were 3 panel discussions consisting of 9 women speakers from corporate as well as our KIIT deemed to be University. They gave their views on being vocal, breaking stereotypes as well as managing work from home in this digital world. 4 of the student speakers from MBA-I gave their individual views for celebrating today’s women.

Speakers shared their experiences, reflecting the past events and how they have so far been challenging the situations and overcoming the obstacles that life throws on them.

The event was all about choosing to challenge such obstacles, which in turn encourages women to stand up and raise their voices and learn to say no.

Ms. Sonali Nanda talked about how a woman should showcase her capabilities to companies. She focused on turning oneself into an asset for the company. She stated, “Being a single woman in the group is not always a weakness”. Ms. Priyadarshini Mohanty beautifully stated, “Behind the success of a woman is a supportive, open-minded family”.

Ms. Bobby Pattnaik stated, “ We are more fortunate than others. Let’s try to play the luck forward”.

Ms. Renu Khanna emphasized what a woman means and that woman is itself an abbreviation. She described the 4ps- Purpose of challenge, pick your battle, Be persistent, Peace within the self. She stressed how to learn to say NO.

Being a woman has always been difficult because she is destined to face the extremes and be answerable to society. Yet, few choices are at her disposal. A woman has to struggle against the two most important challenges i.e., challenging the social stigmas and balancing the professional and personal lives. People assume that women take the support of the words “Empowerment” and “Protection”.

Why would women need empowerment when they build up an entire family, guide it to contribute to the good of society?

Why would they ask to be protected, when they are bold enough to take decisions and stand strong with every move they make?

“A woman is strong, bold, and empowering”…

The audience gained motivation from such an intense discussion and learned about real life instances on how to tackle challenges. The webinar was in itself a tribute to the iron ladies of KIIT DU and society.

I spent hours thinking what exactly LOVE is!

Probably, at this age everyone must be wondering the same. And of course everyone would be having a different perception.

“Love is a strong feeling that makes us weak”, my younger sister says.

Growing up as a kid I’ve seen so many versions of it.

Never felt that it is like a parasite which can completely overpower anyone.

Every night I’d sit near my window and gaze at the moon and used to gossip a lot. A lot!

Gossip about my feelings, emotions and heartbreak!!

Nights passed away and every night I’d be awaiting for an answer which would have controlled my mind then.

Alas! I never got one.

Tears are same, pain is constant but every night there would be a new hope. A new damn HOPE!

HOPE of getting that trust back for which I’ve never done any mistake.

Isn’t it difficult to adore someone who curses you back?

It’s said that you can never love someone if you don’t trust that one. And why not!

Love and trust are like Newton’s third law wherein the love can be the action and trust is the reaction

I am completely smashed by the feeling of betrayal.

It’s harsh, painful and it’s WRONG!

Lot of thoughts cross my mind, lot of chaos and simultaneoulsy everything seems transient.

The only thing that is real is my TEARS; that are uncontrollable and unstoppable.

These tears represent the fear that’s within me.

Fear of losing you!

Fear of my dreams being shattered!

Fear of WHAT-NOT!

I can now clearly see myself drowning in my own dreams.

The thought of this keeps haunting me for days and nights.

I never knew such dark side of LOVE!

Never seen, never felt, never been through!

But I’m in it now.

And the oceanic music had been dead silence.

On the dark sky, a steady gleaming moon was hung, on the water, another dancingly swung.
Ohh! the breeze was also gentle then,

For which clouds drifted time and again.

From the shining sea surface, a tide surged, Rrse and rose, before merging deep in the water,
Perhaps could not muster the courage to rise to that height,

To express his love, who was just in front of sight.

Somehow another ripple formed and so the tide, this time a little higher and a little wide,
Finally gathered his voice to express his heart ,

Unsure whether it would reach his love or scatter in parts.

“You wake me up from the depth of this loneliness, and fill my soul with sublime holiness,
And yet when I try to rise a bit loftier,

Seems like you move up higher.

The shadow you cast from the very day, to the round one of silvery rays,
I have shielded each with my stretching arms,

Through which I sense you, no, I would not let it harm.

Your broken view even emanates voluptuous beauty,
To match you, those stars are nothing but sheer fruity, an aura of pleasant agitation that you shower,
Before reaching there, the stars will lose their power.

Those scars are that make you special, else you would be just anything celestial, if imperfection is the feeling that impacts,
Remember; beautiful things are never perfect.

The gentle pace you make through that settled course, Is that a sign you have any remorse?
The message that you are afraid of,

And hesitant to tell, yet I am prepared for the rough!

Perhaps the Moon heard what she feared, still addled to air, the unease she reared,
And tried to hide above the then-clumsy cloud,

But still longed to cry her pain aloud.

“How could she attract him so high , that reveal her inferiority in the sky,
That the luster is just a borrowed pattern,

Wouldn’t a bee nix lily in a jasmine garden!

Perhaps their meeting is a wild dream,

For the distance is nature’s secret scheme, still ready is she to travel the length,
But a chain of thoughts cuts her strength.

Would the sky feel ashamed to let her touch the ground, or the earth separate them with sturdy mound! Would the sea sleep in a serene slumber,
Or the wind still be the cumber! ”

With bulbul’s song, fell the gloomy sunlight, and the moon had to wait another fortnight, The waves crashed against side by side,
Therevby waiting for the next talk of the moon and the tide

Heartbreaks are real, raw, and funny.

And we’re all idiots. Inspite of knowing that the only reason we breathe and live is because this tiny little organ loyally beats inside our chest, we choose to give it to somebody else. We betray the only thing that cares to keep us alive, literally cut it out, and hand it over like it never belonged to us.
To someone who promises you an eternity, gives you love, and then tosses your heart back at you when it’s too much to take, too much to bear.

There are those who experience it for the first time, and then there are those who go through it, get out of it, and repeat it.

Against all odds, against hope itself, you neatly fold your heart between a paper plane, and let it go. The very same heart that you nurtured and looked after when it was returned in a condition from where it seemed like there was no coming back. Or so you thought.

Yet again, the person you thought the world of, holds it close, and before you can even think, drops it.

You find yourself lying on the floor, in what you think is a sea of tears, hugging your knees. You look very small now, just like you did when you were in your mother’s womb. You know nothing but you feel everything. You’re all those things you thought you’ll never be.

You’re surviving, not living.

You close your eyes, you open them, but it’s all the same.

You wonder how you’ve become so ugly. You wonder what did you do to deserve this. Your mind gives you new answers and innumerable possibilities every time.

But you’re a wreck.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

Love is twisted in ways more than infinity can ever hold. It’s a vicious cycle – ruthless, remorseless, and heartless at its best. Still we willingly give fuel to it. We air the fire that burns us to the ground and we rise again to offer yet another part of ourselves. Only to lose it.

Only to never find it again.

When we found our home

In the gaps and crevices left by others

Drenched in dew drops

And tired from running

Wrapped in the 7 pm twilight

I was told we might never see each other again.

We realized that blue was not

Our favorite colour anymore

And we fled our separate ways into midnight

Where I sat under a tree

And thought about two magicians who fell in love

And you wondered if our song was playing on the radio.

I always loved my tea

With a spoon full of sugar

And when I spilled it on a road map

Full of places we’d never visited

You told me that I was a bad driver.

We found love

On our fingertips

In a dark room with missing corners

And nothing to hold onto

when I told you

have a beautiful voice

You called me a liar.

When we found our home

Pressed between pages

Of a well-read book

Between the green lines

Of an oft-read note

I sighed

Because I thought

I was only a tenant and

The house was not mine to keep

We realized that blue was not

The colour of oceans and skies

And space

That it was the colour

Of a two-star constellation

I sighed

Because I began to know love

And I thought

Love did not know me

I always loved my tea

In an earthen cup

In a thunderstorm

Under a twisted tree

With your soft scent around me

I sighed

Because your laughter

Is a quiet breeze

Beneath a sun-dappled canopy

We found love

On our fingertips and tongues

Written into our skin and

Our souls

In a silver room
