The event was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Founder, Dr. Achyuta Samanta. The inaugural function was graced by the presence of several eminent dignitaries, including Padma Shri Aditya Gadanayak, National Award Winner; Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor; Prof. K. D. Raju, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar; Prof. Kumar Mohanty, Director, KSOM; Prof. Arvind Tripathy, Dean, PG Programme, KSOM and Prof. Priti Ranjan Sahoo, Dean, UG Programme, KSOM; along with invited corporate guests, industry leaders, parents, alumni, and other distinguished visitors.

A major highlight of the event was the participation of more than 900 students, with 114 student groups presenting their innovative ideas through posters and models. The exhibition reflected the students’ creativity, conceptual understanding, and application of classroom learning in an engaging and practical format. It became a vibrant platform for showcasing curricular learning integrated with co-curricular and extracurricular dimensions.

Another significant feature of the inaugural session was the release of the ISBN book with ISBN: 978-93-343-5478-2, titled New Product Development: 40 Innovative Ideas from KSOM, edited by Dr. Priti Ranjan Sahoo and Dr. Kharabela Rout. The book release added academic value and prestige to the event and highlighted the institution’s commitment to promoting student ideas and innovation.

In addition to university functionaries, faculty members, parents, alumni, and students, invited students and faculty from Kalinga English Medium School, Kalarabanka; KIIT International School; ODM Public School; and several other schools also visited the exhibition and interacted with the participating students. Their presence enhanced the programme’s outreach and visibility.

The event atmosphere was further enriched by food stalls, fun-and-game stalls, and student-led performances, including a live band presentation, which brought warmth, energy, and festivity to the occasion. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, university dignitaries, alumni, parents, invited guests, and school students, making it a truly memorable and impactful occasion. The event was widely appreciated by all attendees and stands as a proud achievement for the UG Programme of KIIT School of Management.

Nine different groups of three participants each were formed among the students. They were instructed to choose a chit at random from the bowl, and the speaker, Dr. Kaish Q Khan, then gave them instructions on how to act in accordance with that chit.  There were ten common etiquettes, some of which included how to sit during an interview, how to walk, facial expression, hand posture and many more.

The  objective of the workshop  was to give students practical grooming and etiquette experience in order to better prepare them for future interviews. In the  closing speech, Dr. Malbika Sahoo, the faculty coordinator, thanked Dr. Kaish Q Khan for guiding the students and giving them insightful advice for the workshop.

According to the rules of the event, each code of labour law was represented by a group of four participants. They had already been given the topic, which included four distinct labour rules, and each group had been allotted 10-15 minutes for the discussion and one minute for each participant to respond to any questions.

The moderator addressed a few questions to the group members at the beginning of the discussion and they were quite specific in discussing the topic’s objective. During the first group’s debate upon social security, various data and figures were brought up in the discussion. Following that second group discussed wages and analyzed the effects of the new labour code’s. The third group covered industrial relations, and the fourth group addressed workplace safety and working conditions.

Prof. Isa Mishra and Prof. Shikta Singh judged the discussion. By summing up how well the participants covered the subject with more comprehensive examples and data as well as responded confidently to the judges’ and audience’s questions, the winners were decided.

One of the flagship programs of NHRD Bhubaneswar Chapter is Zenith – the Reward & Recognition program which is in its 6^th year.  The main objective of Zenith is to create an enabling framework for rewarding and recognizing key contributors to HR, in the Eastern Region in particular.  The theme for this year is  “HR in the World of Artificial Intelligence”. ZENITH VI was organized on 7th Feb, 2020 at MC Hall, Infosys BBSR DC, Bhubaneswar. The event witnessed more than 60 delegates from various corporates, hospitals, hotels  and academic institutions.

The event started with an inaugural session with a welcome address by Dr. Santanu Rath, President, NHRDN, Bhubaneswar Chapter. This was followed by a panel discussion on the theme, with panelists comprising Mr. Sudhir Kumar Jaiswal, President & CEO, ESSPL; Ms. Soumya Mohapatra, Group Manager, Unit Strategy, Planning , and Operations & D&I BBSR Centre, Infosys; and Mr. Ipsit Mishra, Director AI, Tech Mahindra. The session was moderated by Dr. Saroj K. Mahapatra, Director, KSOM and life member, NHRDN, Bhubaneswar Chapter.

Post lunch, an activity session on “Confidence Building” was conducted by Dr. Shradha Padhi, Professor KSOM & Secretary, NHRDN, Bhubaneswar Chapter.

Apart from several competitions, HR articles were invited from different B Schools on the topic “Role of AI in HR”. The first prize was bagged by Kousambi Kumar, KIIT School of Management; second prize by Praise Chacko, KIIT School of Management.

NHRDN had conducted a National level ranking of B Schools. KIIT School of Management from Odisha along with two other B schools received top honours.

The Finance Minister presented the Union Budget 2020 amidst several challenges- unemployment, demand slowdown, India’s derailed economic growth- to name a few.
