This international research project, funded by SANH-GCRF, is a multi-country, multi-core long-term (5-years) project. KIIT is a major partner for this project, where 4 professors and 10 project staff (including one MBA student) are working for it. The team has already published (jointly and individually 5 papers).

This workshop featured the launch of a a regional policy report, Nitrogen Pollution in South Asia: Scientific Evidence, Current Initiatives and Policy Landscape. The release of these reports marked a historic moment for South Asian cooperation to develop an evidence-based policy approach to tackle nitrogen pollution. This event aimed to raise awareness and support action in the policy arena for nitrogen in South Asia. By building the evidence base, this workshop aimed to help in catalysing informed interventions for sustainable management at regional and national levels.

This workshop was attended by high-level decision-makers and environmental experts and researchers from 8 countries.

The speaker lucidly explained about the paradigm shift in consumer behaviors. The pandemic has forced most brands to customize their business models. Customer sentiment has changed visibly towards digital technologies. The session was highly interactive. More than 60 students and faculty members were part of the session.

The guest speaker was Grace Grossmann – writer, yoga instructor and wellness coach. As a writer, yoga instructor, wellness coach, and English teacher, Grace has a passion for helping people find peace within. She finds sense through writing and strength through God. She believes people are too pressurized to find happiness when it all comes down to loving yourself and others. Her mission is to show people it is OK to feel anxiety and stress; it can help you grow when handled with care and compassion. Her non-fiction books include humorous and humble accounts of Grace’s spiritual journey to show that reality is always going to hit, but you can get through it. She connects with the reader in an encouraging and lighthearted way through a steady flow of engaging content including practical exercises, questions and good laughs.

Grace Grossman the author of the book “Chill out and Cheer up” was the cynosure of the event, who had the knowledge & understanding to deal with perfection, every single question raised by the students. She talked about both physical & cognitive aspects of how to overcome mental stress & how Yoga and sports give much more peace to our minds if only we take out time & give importance to our mental health. Very pertinent questions were raised by the students.

The webinar was conducted virtually and graced by Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro-VC, KIIT-DU, Prof. S K Mahapatra, Director, KSOM and Shri Suryakant Sharma, Senior Consultant, AMFI. The programme was coordinated by Prof. K. K. Ray, KSOM.

Dr. K. K. Ray introduced the speakers and mentioned the significance of the theme. Welcoming the distinguished guests, Prof. S. K. Mahapatra underscored the importance of financial planning. He mentioned that everyone including students should understand the benefits of financial independence and act carefully to achieve the same.

Prof. Sasmita Samanta spoke about her personal experience of financial education and awareness. She mentioned that every individual should develop interest towards finance, financial instruments and the financial system of the country to understand their personal finance and planning better. She also talked about the emerging changes in the environment of finance and contemporary research in the area.

The keynote speaker, Shri Surya Kant Sharma touched upon the importance of financial security of individuals. He emphasized that an investor should first think and ensure adequate life insurance, reasonable medical insurance cover and an emergency fund before embarking upon the journey of wealth creation through sustained investments which is most essential for prosperity. He talked about the need for wealth creation for prosperity and emphasized that investors should not be money accumulators but wealth creators which only would make them comfortable with regard to their money needs for their milestones in life. He cautioned participants that most of the investments except in governmental instruments have risk but risk can be managed by simple formula – Think, understand and invest.

After the keynote speech, there was a question & answer session, where many interesting questions were asked by the participants on various issues pertaining to investment and financial planning. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. Praveen Mohanty, KSOM.

The best of students tend to get nervous while facing interviews and it is well established that a bad case of nerves can lead to serious interview mistakes. The Student Counseling Cell of KIIT University, in association with KSOM is organizing a webinar on the topic which will help counter most of such mistakes.  The webinar was held on Monday, 26th April, 2021 from 8 pm to 9.30 pm on the topic “Cracking Interviews with Ease”.

Our own alumnus, Ms. Aparajita (Appy) Panda shall lead the webinar. She is a Recruiting Leader with 13+ years of experience in building and leading high performing organizations. She is responsible for developing and executing talent acquisition strategy for Amazon AWS Platform business. Aparajita excels at building and managing recruiting teams, and currently owns global headcount goals for a 2,000+ employee business at 7 sites across 5 countries. She is a seasoned Recruiting Leader, adept in all aspects of Talent Acquisition and management. She is an expert in building high calibre innovative teams, driving change, process improvement and training & development.

The context setting of the webinar was done by Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Student Counseling. She elucidated the purpose of counseling and the Counseling cell; the extra efforts they put in to keep the morale of the students high, especially during these trying times of the pandemic.

Dr. S. K. Mahapatra, Director, KSOM welcomed the guest and the gathering.
