Bhubaneswar: KIIT School of Management (KSOM) is pleased to highlight the literary achievement of its alumnus Soumak Palit, author of The Great Sons and Daughters of India, a book that revisits the lives, contributions and sacrifices of several revolutionaries and freedom fighters associated with India’s struggle for independence.

Published in August 2026, the book brings together historical accounts of prominent figures including Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Rash Behari Bose, Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, Masterda Surya Sen, Pulin Behari Das, Khudiram Bose, Prafulla Chaki, Jatin Das, Bina Das, Neera Arya, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and many others.

The book seeks to bring greater attention to historical narratives surrounding India’s freedom movement, particularly the experiences of revolutionaries whose contributions are explored through biographical accounts, family perspectives and historical material. The foreword describes the work as an effort to bring together the stories of revolutionaries, freedom fighters, and cultural, social and religious leaders whose contributions shaped an important period in India’s history.

An important feature of the publication is its engagement with members and descendants of families connected with several freedom fighters. The acknowledgement section records contributions and support from family members associated with figures such as Pulin Behari Das, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Masterda Surya Sen, Ullaskar Dutta, Bagha Jatin, Rash Behari Bose, Bina Das and others.

The book also explores the broader intellectual and historical context of India’s freedom movement, including chapters on Swami Vivekananda and Sister Nivedita, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Tilka Manjhi, Rash Behari Bose, Bagha Jatin, Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Aurobindo Ghosh, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee and several other historical personalities.

Soumak Palit is an alumnus of KIIT School of Management, having pursued his MBA at KSOM. His earlier book, Management Dynamics of the 21st Century, also reflects his academic and professional interests in management, economics and related subjects.

The Great Sons and Daughters of India adds another dimension to his writing journey, connecting historical research and storytelling with an effort to preserve and bring wider attention to narratives from India’s freedom struggle.
