With the ever growing abundance of data sets it is becoming essential to use and interpret data appropriately. A popular spreadsheet program like MS Excel can be a very powerful tool to model and manipulate data which further helps in making informed business decisions. Today, spreadsheets are being extensively used by business
organizations for purposes like data entry and storage, representation of business data, administrative and managerial processes, accounting, data analysis, reporting and visualizations, and forecasting. This workshop is aimed at equipping business managers on how to effectively use spreadsheets for making best use of business data. The tool used for the workshop would be MS Excel 2010 or a higher version. Pedagogy shall include hands on exercises with sample data.
A spreadsheet is a document that stores data in a grid of horizontal rows and vertical columns. The row-column
structure also allows the data to be analysed using formulae and calculations by creating relationships between various cells.
