KIIT School of Management (KSOM) organised its 6th National HR conclave on 25th of July 2015 on the theme “HR Strategy and Tools” and was attended by many eminent personalities from the corporate world. The ceremony was inaugurated by Mr. Prem Singh, President Global HR – Wockhardt Ltd; Mr. Judhajit Das, Chief of HR – ICICI Prudential, Ms. Paramita Mahapatra, President – NHRDN Bhubaneswar Chapter and by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder – KIIT and KISS. Prof. Anil Bajpai, Director KSOM set the context for the conclave and introduced the theme HR Strategy and Tools. On this occasion a souvenir was released containing articles by corporate leaders, academicians and students.
Ms. Paramita Mohapatra underlined the relevance of “HR strategy and tools” in organizations and how it is key to sustained success of an organisation. According to her there should be proper application of tools and analytics to gather data and understand its impact on attitude, training, talent score cards and other HR processes.
In his keynote address, Mr. Prem Singh gave an interactive presentation on global HR trends of leadership, engagement, reinvention and re-imagination. He threw light on big changes coming up in terms of technology and demography by elucidating real life cases. He further went on to say that people and culture cannot be bought or copied because they are a part of DNA of the organisation.
The second keynote speaker, Mr. Judhajit Das spoke about Businesses having the ability to create economic surplus. He stated that HR is all about fairness of policies and decisions. He gave an interesting perspective to the theme by citing how we use academic qualifications to create silos in our minds and biases in business.
The Conclave also saw three panel discussions held on interesting topics of ’Cutting Edge HR Trends and Challenges’; ‘HR Managers as Talent Managers’ and ‘Top HR Concerns in the Current Era’. These sub-themes were actively debated and ideated by top HR professionals like Mr. Amit Pande, Director – People Business (PB Coffman), Mr. Devdutta Sarma, Head PM – Tech Mahindra, Mr. Manoj Kumar, VP Global Lead for HR Analytics – HSBC; Mr. Pramod Chandrasekhar, VP Capability Building – HSBC. Ms. Bobby Pattnaik, Head of HR – Infosys Bhubaneswar, Mr. Rajendra Mehta, Chief People officer – ZEE Entertainment; Mr. Satish Mohapatra, GM HR C&B – Siemens; Mr. V P Singh, Executive Director HR – RJ Corp; Mr. Pradeep Pande, President HR – Alkem Laboratories; Mr. Bibaswan Dash, Head HR – GE Technologies, Ms. Urvi Aradhya, Sr. VP HR – K Raheja Corp, Mr. George Selvam, Founder – 5E serpraise, Mr. Harjeet Khanduja, VP HR – Reliance Jio.
The discussions were indeed engaging for the students and corporates equally. These discussions provided new insights as well as brought out unique perspectives on the theme.
